Feeding 300 Guests At A Lovely Summer Fete At St Andrews Church

Summer is now in full swing and Hog Roast Eaton is as busy as ever, out and about catering events such as birthdays, weddings and corporate functions. We can provide tasty, homemade food for just about any kind of occasion you can think of, and on a recent sunny weekend, we catered a lovely fête at St. Andrew’s Anglican church, as part of the 700th anniversary celebrations. St. Andrew’s has now been around for an incredible 700 years and this year is also 25 years since the New Church building was erected. During 2018, the ‘Year of Celebration’ will see lots of events to help bring the community together, including exhibitions, music, and, of course, food!

Planned jointly by St Andrew’s and Christ Church of Eaton Parish, the afternoon fête was in aid of children and youth work in the area and featured lots of stalls selling teas and ice Pig 10cream, pickles and preserves, jewellery, cakes, toys, books, and handcrafted items, as well as a tombola.

To satisfy the hungry guests, Caroline asked our Hog Roast Eaton team to cook a centrepiece hog roast so that we could make yummy pigs in buns for 300 people at lunchtime. To make our hog roast rolls that we’ve spent many years perfecting, we prepare and then roast a pig from scratch on-site (although we needed more than one for this busy event) and it cooks away for a few hours while we watch over it. Once it’s cooked, it needs a rest, and that’s when we slice the fresh bread rolls and dish up our homemade duo of apple sauce and sage and onion stuffing and get the condiments ready. Then once the hog has rested a little while, we can slice off the crispy crackling and slice up the juicy pieces of meat into trays, and we’re ready to fill bread rolls (or wraps if preferred) with the ingredients, leaving you to choose the sauce to top it off with.

On this gorgeous day, Hog Roast Eaton had a great time in the sunshine, serving queues and queues of people our gorgeous pigs in buns. We had lots of compliments on our delicious food and future bookings, too, so we know the hog roast was a resounding success.
