Lucy and John have been determined that their wedding reception would still go ahead even in the face of the restrictions on the size of social gatherings. They thought they had everything sorted until further limitations of wedding receptions were announced recently, and then quite understandably, panic set it. They didn’t feel stressed for too long though, because when they contacted us here at Hog Roast Forncett about this latest disappointing development, we assured them that we could handle any further changes the couple needed to make to their plans for the food and service on the day and that we would make it as swift and straightforward as possible for them in the process!
They required a few alterations to their chosen menu and opted to remove the canape welcome reception element of their wedding meal because of social distancing. We also suggested that we provide table service rather than presenting the food as a buffet, as originally planned, for the same reason. So, without too much fuss at all, we had everything sorted, much to the relief of the couple!
We arrived on-site several hours before the wedding reception was due to take place, and with all of our essential measures in place, the Hog Roast Forncett chef and catering assistant set about preparing the couples wedding menu from scratch. Lucy and John had decided not to opt for one of our classic hog roasts, and instead chose the equally delicious spit roasted spring lamb, marinated in aromatic rosemary, accompanied by a fresh mint, mustard and dill sauce, and served with locally sourced seasonal vegetables and roast potatoes. When the reduced wedding party made their way in, we ensured social distancing was maintained while the guests took their seats whilst also making sure everyone was relaxed and happy. The slow roasted feast went down incredibly well with the wedding party and was followed by us dressing and serving the couple’s wedding cake. Lucy and John’s reception may not have been the grand gathering they had dreamed off when they first got engaged, but it was a very special and memorable celebration nonetheless, and for those who could attend, Hog Roast Forncett’s fantastic wedding feast played a huge part in everyone’s enjoyment of sharing the day with the happy couple!
