In the recent weeks, the team at Hog Roast Needham Market were contacted by Zach, a local musician who had decided to launch a music festival, that aimed to pit the best young musicians, bands and artists against each other in a friendly competition. He started by getting in touch with local schools and music groups, and spreading the word about his Youth Music festival. A few weeks later, he had received a tonne of interest from musicians wanting to take part, and had even secured a venue – an outdoor stage that would be erected in a nearby park. With everything almost ready, he realised he needed a way of feeding his guests, which brought him to us.
We spoke with Zach about the particulars of his event, such as the expected number of guests, choice of menu as well as walking through any special requirements like specific serving times. There were well over two hundred guests expected to attend, as either an audience member or a musician. As the numbers were so high, Zach wanted variety, but also simplicity. We devised a menu that would be easy to eat with your hands, in order to eliminate the need for cutlery. He chose the Spit Roasted Pig and the Spit Roasted Chicken, both to be served with crusty bread and a selection of sauces.
Guests were dazzled by the smell of our Spit Roasted meats as they began to arrive for the show. The team from Hog Roast Needham Market, had been on site for a few hours, in order to have everything ready on time. We served the musicians first, as they needed their energy, but once the show had started, the audience members were free to grab a bite from our stall at any time during the show.
The event ran from twelve noon to nine o’clock at night, by which time we were still serving our delicious cuisine. Almost all of the audience had grabbed a bite from us, and some even came up for seconds as the talented young musicians played their hearts out. When the end of the night came, our team from Hog Roast Needham Market tidied away their mess discreetly and disposed of any waste offsite.
