Wedding Reception! Hog Roast Halesworth

Providing the delicious food for a chic autumn wedding was on the cards for us over the weekend, when we helped newlyweds Tom and Justine celebrate in style with a hog roast Halesworth! For their wedding reception meal following a church service, they asked us to cater for 50 guests in the gardens of a local hotel, with a formal sit-down meal including a winter warmer hog roast Halesworth. While the hog roast service itself would be buffet-style, with us carving and serving the happy couple and their guests with slow-roasted pork, crackling and seasonal vegetables, the starter and dessert would both be served at the tables.

At first, Tom and Justine couldn’t agree on the choice of vegetables, so went away and thought about it and also discussed it with their family and friends. Not many people would be so concerned with veggies, but the couple wanted everything to be perfect on their special day and didn’t like the thought of serving any of the wrong food. When they got back to us, they had decided on a larger variety of winter roast vegetables than we usually serve, with the good thinking that if there was more choice, there would be less chance of anyone being dissatisfied. So parsnips, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, turnips, green beans, pumpkin and carrots would all be roasted underneath the hog and then served with the meat and a lovely homemade onion gravy.

We set up our equipment several hours before service, to prepare and start to roast the pig. Over the next few hours, we would be busy preparing the vegetables and potatoes to be roasted in trays, as well as arranging some delicate canapés to give out to guests as they arrived. As they poured in to the marquee after the wedding service, we served our handmade gourmet sausages, wild mushroom bouchees, smoked salmon and grilled fillet of beef, alongside glasses of bubbly.

Once seated, we served fresh homemade chicken soup and crusty bread rolls. The hog roast Halesworth had cooked to sheer perfection and Tom and Justine were thrilled with how it turned out, especially the crunchy crackling. Then what else could round off such a delicious meal than the couple’s own wedding cake, which we served as well as our own chef’s special of sticky toffee pudding with an irresistible toffee sauce.
