For many, there is nothing better than putting on a pair of boots and getting out into the countryside to spend some time surrounded by nature instead of grey concrete and flashy advertising. Camping is the perfect way to make that feeling last. As you sit by the fire of a night and look up at the stars, you can’t help but feel connected to the past, as for thousands of years, this is how humans lived – out in the wild!
In the recent weeks, we were contacted by a Scout Leader named Simon. His young group of scouts were experiencing the thrill of camping for themselves as they embarked on a two week adventure! Simon wanted to end the fortnight of fun with a campfire party and thought, as we did, that a Hog Roast would be the perfect way to treat the scouts with a bit of modern luxury on their last day, whilst still capturing a sense of adventure, as the time old tradition of roasting a pig whole, originated by campfires.
Of course, the great outdoors were no challenge for our team at Hog Roast Attleborough, who were able to bring all of the Hog Roasting equipment to the camp – a beautiful spot in the woods near a stream – and set up before the brave adventurers returned from their last day in the wild. The scouts were delighted to see us waiting for them that evening and were eager to grab a bite when they could smell the Hog cooking. After they’d done all their chores, the meat was piping hot, and the crackling extra crispy – it was time to serve. The scouts told us all about their wonderful adventures as we served them, and ate their pigs in buns amongst the trees, with the sunset their view and the trickling stream their music.
Needless to say that the scouts loved their Hog Roast and after they were fed, were able to enjoy a night of music and laughter to celebrate their final night. Of course the Hog Roast Attleborough team were responsible campers and discreetly cleared away their equipment, and disposed of any waste offsite. Simon couldn’t thank us enough for what we’d done and admitted that he was tempted to buy a machine of his own. When that day comes, he knows who to call.
