With the Euro 2012 tournament over, there is only a short length of time until the start of the Olympics, and the torch is in its last legs of its relay around the nation.
Spitting Pig was hired at the local pub for the Euro 2012 final between Spain and Italy, as many bared witness to Italy’s 4-0 defeat from Spain. Though England’s Euro dream was cut short, many fans still witnessed the tournament’s final. With each fan stating balanced views with their friends over who will wins from the line-ups shown, many were keeping an eye on well-know players famous for the English clubs they play for, such as Manchester City’s Mario Balotelli, and Chelsea’s Fernando Torres.
With the game kicking off, fans watched the pinnacle of the tournament before them, knowing either team had all the players, skills, teamwork and determination to win, but how they used this was the crucial question. With only 15 minutes being played, Spain took the upper-hand with an exceptional goal by A.C. Milan’s David Silva. With the crowd with the pub looking pleased from the goal, we could see that we could prepare cutting the hog, to ensure that everything would make the night memorable.
With the half-time whistle blown, we began cutting into the hog, with the queue of fans slowly beginning to form. Within minutes, the contents of the pub was queuing up, just for a bite of our succulent and tender meat, and 10 minutes later, everyone was sat down in silence, as words could not describe the juicy and freshly cooked taste of the meat. As the whistle went for the second half, fans were asking if there was any more available, and we could see that this had gone down a treat with everyone.
With Spain starting the second half with a 2-0 lead, it could be seen that they already appeared to have the tournament won, but Italy was not giving up hope, and therefore, fought through the Spanish squad, yet were unable to secure any goals. With the final whistle blown, it was official; Spain had won the Euro 2012 tournament, making it three consecutive tournaments they have won. With crowds in the pub already agreeing that the best team won.
