Birthdays are important milestones in life, especially those which mark the end of one decade and the start of a new one. But for many people, coming up with, and organising the ideal celebration can be tricky – especially if the event is supposed to remain a secret from the recipient until the last minute! Fortunately, Hog Roast Cawston is no stranger to a surprise party, and in our thirty years of business, our team have catered for several of these events, resulting in incredible memories for clients up and down the country.
As her husband, John’s 40th approached, Pauline began thinking up ways to mark the monumental occasion and finally, thanks to the recommendation from a friend, she got in touch with Hog Roast Cawston. Hoping to give her man an evening to remember, the client had asked us to serve one of our famous hog roasts to a group of 100 people.
Taking the reins on the event, our catering manager Russ recommended our signature classic hog roast feast, which was everything the client had been looking for and more! Featuring a succulent slow roasted pig with all the trimmings, gluten-free rolls and wraps and a meat-free option of grilled veggie skewers with optional haloumi, flatbreads and tzatziki dip, we’re proud to say that this menu offers something for everyone and has remained a firm favourite among our clients for years.
Last weekend, our catering team travelled the short distance to Briston’s Webb Ellis Rugby Club where Pauline had arranged for the surprise party to take place. Setting up the cooking equipment next to the trophy display cabinet allowed plenty of space for the cluster of dining tables which had been decorated with white tablecloths and black and gold balloon arrangements in preparation for the party.
As the pig sizzled away on a layer of sage and onion stuffing, the Hog Roast Cawston team pieced together the skewers and lined up the condiments ahead of the guests’ arrival. Soon, the party-goers began making an appearance, and with everyone in their places, Pauline turned up with John, who was shocked to see his friends and family waiting for him!
When the party kicked off, the finger-licking feast quickly became a huge hit among the celebrants, and by the end of the night the group had polished off every last morsel of Hog Roast Caswton’s creation!
