Every summer the Johnson family play host to a foreign student who has come to the UK to learn English at a local language school. They have been involved in the programme for years and they love meeting people from all over the world and welcoming them to the UK. This year they were looking forward to playing host to a student from China who had enrolled in the language school to prepare for the English exam that she needed to pass to gain entry to a UK university. They decided to throw a party to welcome their guest and wanted to provide food that would introduce the student to the very best of local cuisine. Having had one of our hog roasts in the past at a food festival, they immediately thought of Hog Roast Bury St Edmunds!
When the Johnsons first contacted us, they weren’t sure if we would agree to cater for a small private party in their garden, they assumed, as many people do, we only do mass-catering for big events. This is a common misconception and we swiftly informed them we are happy to cater for parties of any size. They were very pleased with our range of private party menus and our helpful customer service team assisted the couple in selecting the perfect menu to introduce their Chinese guest to high-quality local cuisine. They chose a traditional hog roast, along with seasonal vegetables and roast potatoes infused with garlic and rosemary. We agreed that this was indeed the ideal culinary welcome for the student!
Whilst we concentrated on preparing the menu in the family’s back garden, the rest of the Johnson clan were eagerly awaiting the arrival of their guest, who was being brought to their home by the school’s Student Liaison Officer-who was just as excited about trying Hog Roast Bury St Edmunds’s food!
When their guest arrived, she was understandably a bit overwhelmed by the new environment and all of the new people she had to meet, but as soon as she tried our food, we could tell she felt instantly at home! The host family thanked Hog Roast Bury St Edmunds for helping them to make their guest feel so welcome-their only concern was that they wouldn’t be able to provide her with such great food every day!
