One of my personal favourite events is Bonfire Night. The firework displays, bonfires and cosying up with some good food to me is just perfection. Not to mention the fact that it means Christmas is only a little over a month away, what’s not to love?!
This year for bonfire night Hog Roast Ixworth were catering at a local school’s bonfire event. There would be a small firework display first for the younger children followed by the lighting if the bonfire and then the culminating in the main fireworks display. Hog Roast Ixworth were to serve our delicious food throughout the displays to ensure everyone attending kept warm with some good wholesome food.
We had prepared a traditional Hog Roast Ixworth slow roast hog that we had scored and applied salt to create lots of salty crackling. Our head chef would be carving this up and serving it in freshly baked floured bread rolls for ease of eating whilst the displays are ongoing. We of course also prepared lots of delicious condiments such as our sweet homemade applesauce and some seasonal vegetables that we roasted alongside the hog. We made sure to bring along some gluten free bread rolls and for any vegetarians our chef had prepared some vegetable options to keep everyone happy. There were also stalls handing out hot chocolates and mulled wine which were bound to be greatly appreciated by the crowds.
I have to say the school had prepared a wonderful firework display that was watched in awe by all the children and adults alike. Everyone was also grateful for our Hog Roast Ixworth as it really was a chilly night and our hog roast rolls were just the perfect thing to warm everyone up!
We can’t wait to be back again next year!
