The week or two before Christmas is certainly when we here at Hog Roast Martlesham are kept the busiest. With planning for the big day itself not to mention catering for events and parties up and down the country, it is certainly all hands on deck for everyone at Hog Roast Martlesham.
Today, our catering team were travelling to an event in Martlesham. We had been contacted in early October by the owner of a local brewery who were planning their works Christmas party. In the past, the company had simply gone out to eat at local restaurants but after a disappointing meal last year they wanted to go all out to impress their hard-working employees this year and decided that the best way to do that would be with a Hog Roast Martlesham festive meal- we couldn’t agree more!
We arrived on the premises nice and early to get our machinery set up and food cooking away under the gazebo. The brewery boss had wanted a real Christmassy feel to the event and so had decorated the venue with plenty of Christmas lights, trees and banners and even had some fake snow scattered along the floor. The tables had been set up inside the venue, however, due to the level of ventilation, we thought it best to cater from the courtyard which had the added bonus of allowing us to be able to greet guests with the mouth-watering scent of our food slowly roasting away.
We had been instructed to prepare a traditional festive menu for one hundred guests, starting with welcome drinks and canapes. For the main course, we prepared a spit-roasted turkey as the main event alongside a small whole roasted hog and leg of lamb to give people options and then, of course, we had all of the Christmas vegetables for good measure. The final course was to be a selection of cakes and desserts including a Christmas pudding, sticky toffee pudding and of course chocolate pudding so there would be something for everyone to enjoy!
