When our long-term Hog Roast Newmarket customer Benji wanted something a bit different served at his latest party, his wife’s milestone birthday celebration, he decided on our amazing Southern Slow Roast. With your choice of three succulent meats, all marinated in advance and then cooked at a low temperature for hours on end on the day of your special occasion, and four sides, either hot or cold or a combination of both, this versatile menu will please varying personal tastes and appetites. It also includes a homemade vegetarian option if required too, and with all the sides being suitable for vegetarians, this means both carnivores and herbivores alike will get to enjoy delicious homemade food.
Benji looked through all the five possible meat options first of all – beef brisket, barbecued pork butt, sticky pork ribs, spicy whole-roasted chickens and Creole lamb – and decided on ribs, pork and lamb. He also needed a vegetarian option, and our popular veggie skewers, with grilled halloumi, tomatoes, mushrooms, courgette, red onion and peppers served in pitta with Tzatziki would certainly do the trick. For the sides, you can choose four from homemade coleslaw, Greek salad, a seasonal green leaf salad, mac and cheese, corn cobettes, jacket potatoes and sweet potato wedges with a kick, and Benji selected coleslaw, mac and cheese, wedges and corn cobettes.
On the day of Benji’s wife’s 60th birthday, our Hog Roast Newmarket team arrived at the community hall venue several hours before we were due to serve the great feast. We set up our equipment outside and before long, we had the three marinated meats cooking away slowly but surely and filling the surroundings with wonderful aromas. Later in the day, we freshly prepared the veggie kebabs, wedges, mac and cheese and corn cobettes and then they cooked away too, and we made a huge portion of our version of coleslaw, sliced plenty of bread rolls and arranged them wraps and set out the usual condiments as well as a select few sauces that go perfectly with the meats.
All of Benji’s guests loved their lavish Hog Roast Newmarket meal and by the end of service, all of our food had been devoured with absolute relish.
