With every pub in the vicinity screening the FA Cup Final, Trish, the landlady of a local pub, needed a big incentive to draw the spectators to her establishment, instead of one of her competitors. She had a big screen, but the pub next door had a bigger one, she was running some drinks promotions, but she had spotted similar adverts of the boards outside half a dozen other places too. After thinking long and hard about what she could do give her the edge over the competition, she came up with the bright idea of hiring Hog Roast Sheringham to provide some irresistible slow-cooked pork, free of charge to everyone who came to her pub to watch the match! Far from losing money by not charging for the food, the competitive publican was certain that the additional patrons Hog Roast Sheringham would draw in, would make her a tidy profit from all the extra drinks sold that day! And besides, as well as being by far the best way to cook meat (in our humble opinions!), one of our traditional hog roasts buffets is also incredibly economical. Our top of the range Hogmaster machine has the capacity to cook a 75kg pig and our chefs have the ability to slow roast it to perfection-so there would be more than enough food to feed the capacity crowd Trish was hoping for and, unlike Manchester United, there was no way she could lose!
A sea of blue met a wall of red, as the rival fans flocked to Trish’s pub, attracted by the prospect of a free post-match feast! Just as she had hoped, the place was busier than it had been for a long time and even before the hog had finished cooking, it was already obvious her plan had worked! As the meat was nearing completion, there were cries of both triumph and anguish as a penalty put Chelsea ahead and kept them there until the end of the match! Our chef, always a master of timing, was carving the pork as the London club were lording over their Northern rivals and lifting the coveted trophy. Differences in the pub were soon put aside however, when all the footy fans got stuck into our delicious slow-roasted pork, crunchy crackling and smooth homemade apple sauce! Offering commiserations to Man United fans, congratulations to Chelsea fans and great food to everyone, Hog Roast Sheringham had helped Trish to trounce the competition and she said she will definitely be hiring us again in the near future!
